Crisis and Mental Health Resources

The following list, developed by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health) Minnesota, is intended as a resource to help those in crisis.  

There is hope. If you or someone you know is having a mental health crisis, help is a phone call, text, or online chat away. Please reach out!

Crisis Resources

There is hope

If you or someone else is in urgent danger, call 911.

  • Stay calm.

  • For non-English speakers, ask for a call taker who speaks your language.

  • Tell them this is a mental health emergency.

  • Ask for a mobile crisis team.

  • You can also ask for an officer trained in crisis intervention or mental health first aid. 

988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

988 will connect you to a crisis center. Trained crisis counselors are waiting 24/7. The support is free and confidential.

CALL- When you call 988, these options are available:

  1. Veterans option

  2. Spanish option

  3. LGBTQ+ option

After you select an option, there will be a pause while you are transferred to the a crisis center.

You can also ask for a language interpreter.

TEXT- You can text HELP to 988.

Text AYUDA to 988 for Spanish.

CHAT- to access the chat, visit 988LifeLine.org/chat/

(click 'chat', then 'ASL now')

For ASL crisis support, click on 'Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Hearing loss'

4 tribes, and every county in MN has a professional crisis team. You can call them directly. These teams can come visit you, help resolve a crisis, and link you to any services you may need. 

A 911 dispatcher can connect you to a team.
